The IT and technology community in Lagos, and Nigeria continues to be excited by the surprise visit of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg arrived Nigeria on Tuesday, and paid visits to tech startup Andela as well as the Co-Creation Hub. His visit is said to be to help Nigerian start-ups grow.
“Thanks for such a warm welcome. There are so many talented people here and I am excited to get a chance to meet some of them,” he said at the CC Hub.
He said that this was his first trip to sub-Saharan Africa and he also planned to meet with developers and entrepreneurs and learning about the start-up ecosystem in Nigeria.
“The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as much as I can,’’ he said.
‘Growing Facebook in Nigeria’
He also revealed plans to help Facebook grow in Nigeria, planning to add support for more local languages. “I am glad we support Hausa and we are planning on supporting a lot more languages soon,” he said.
