Nigeria: Fighting Their Way to Stardom


The Nigerian music scene has welcomed many new artistes in recent months. While many of them are still struggling to make an impression, a handful of them had us putting their songs on repeat. Everyone wants to ‘blow’ so to speak, but before this happens these creative minds spend years under the surface grinding and improving their craft until it gets to a point where the listeners fall in love with it. Some of these promising acts are already popular but not quite ‘blown’, others may not have registered a huge impression but they are definitely talented enough to be with the big stars and with all the right things falling in place, they may become shinning stars too. Zoro Many might have heard of him, Owoh Chimaobi aka Zoro SwagBag is Nigeria’s fast-rising hiphop Igbo rapper. He hails from Awgu in Enugu state. Going back to the music archives, he is the rapper on the massive hits ‘Owu sa gi’, ‘Safe journey’ and more recently ‘The way we go’ by highlife musician, Wizboy. He has dropped another single titled, ‘042(coalcity state of mind)’ which gives a complete insight into the whos and whats in Enugu state.

Sometimes in the last quarter of the year 2014Mr. 2Kay came through with the Patoranking-featured tune titled “Bad Girl Special“; 2015 sees the Ayzed-produced offering get a remix, and though Patoranking is not on this remix, Mr. 2Kay features Cynthia Morgan and Seyi Shay in on this. | ENJOY!!!

Mr. 2Kay is back after a successful exploit of his “Summer Girl [Samba]” single which got widely accepted with major radio and TV support in Nigeria and other parts of Africa including key UK radio support from the likes of 1Xtra, Capital XtraBBC Radio NottinghamBBC Radio MerseysideBBC Radio DerbyBBC Radio Northampton, Bang FM and more, and not forgetting the Team Salut Remixwhich was A-listed at Reprezent FM, London and also contributed towards the No. 6 peak position and 4 weeks in the Top 10 of the UK Music Week urban club chart.

This time, Mr. 2Kay teams up with another Nigerian superstar, Patoranking, to deliver “Bad Girl Special [BGS]”; “Bad Girl Special” is a very melodious track that is a combination of Afro sounds, Pop and Dancehall. With melodious chords and heavy kick and bassline playing through the track you will find yourself dancing to this new offering produced by Nigerian producer, Ayzed; both Mr. 2Kay and Patoranking sing about a special girl and express their love for the ladies. | ENJOY!!!
