If you were asked to name 10 female musicians or rappers in Nigeria off the top of your head, you would probably be stuck when you reach the sixth name, because whether you like it or not, the ladies are springing up and shriveling as fast as it takes a pack of noodles to boil.
It’s about time we had more female artistes in the entertainment music industry and Cynthia Morgan’s big debut is a welcome change to the silence that has rocked the female dance hall, rap music world for a couple of years now.
Though Morgan is not particularly new to the game, as she featured in a track with General Pype, Champion, many years ago, she dropped off the scene for a while but has returned with a club banger Lead me On, which is gaining massive air play and fast becoming a fan favorite.
It’s hard to say if the song would catch your attention without the fairy dust sprinkled on it by way of a music video directed by Clarence Peters and Jude Engees Montage, but it is sure a good first attempt at rebranding and positioning her kind of music in Nigeria.
Set on the beach, the video features Morgan in provocative attires, as she dances around a young shirtless hunk of pure male delight. Not sure the black and white effect of the video added to the aesthetics but as far as Nigeria and dance hall is concerned, Morgan is definitely on the right track.
